A letter, by the President of IAALV

As we complete the 37th year of IAALV, on behalf of the 2008-2009 IAALV Executive Committee, I would like to sincerely thank you for your support.

IAALV’s motto is We care for the community we live in. We carry out our mission statement through various programs. Here are a few examples:

  • We strengthened our ties with the Indian Consulate in New York and had the honor of Consulate General, Mrs. Neelam Deo's presence at our Republic Day show in January 08.
  • The Foods of India festival was a tremendous success 20 vendors, over 500 attendees, and 7 cultural exhibits representing different parts of India.
  • The summer picnic in July with over 200 attendees snow-cones, volleyball, cricket, music, games, and of course great catered food.
  • On India’s Independence Day, Allentown Mayor, representative from Congressman Charlie Dent’s office, and local Indian American community raised the Indian flag at City Hall in Allentown.
  • We held a welcome luncheon for new Indian students from local colleges (DeSales University, Lehigh University, Moravian Academy).
  • We joined with The Hindu Temple and other local organizations to sponsor a free health awareness and check up clinic for community members.
  • The 37th annual Diwali show was simply spectacular. In addition to the variety program, this year we brought a professional comedian to entertain the audience.

In addition to the great radio program, JHANKAR, every Saturday, IAALV also keeps you up-to-date with its quarterly newsletter and fliers.

In August 2009, we plan to bring the first India Day Parade to Allentown we look forward to your participation in this extravagant display of Indian culture to the residents of Lehigh Valley.

The only way for us to continue doing so much and more is with your support. We would like you to consider becoming a member of IAALV. What is membership after all?

  • It is a way of pledging yourself to a cause.
  • It is a way of showing your support.
  • It is a way of making the community organization stronger.

An annual membership fee of just $45 for the entire family, which has been the same since 2004 we believe is very modest.

We encourage you to get involved in your community and become a part of IAALV. If there is anything else we can do to secure your pledge, please do not hesitate to write directly to info@iaalv.org
